This website is for people with an interest in the Scottish writer John Buchan; his life and his work, as well as his fiction and non-fiction. Whether you have only read a couple of his novels, like the The Thirty-Nine Steps or Greenmantle, or are looking for more detail on his other works, this website will be useful to you

.The website is also intended to be a platform for the John Buchan Society to promote its work. The Society is dedicated to providing a resource for those who want to know more about John Buchan, to provide information to scholars and to those who have recently discovered his works alike.

The most important of these activities is the Society's biannual John Buchan Journal. The website is intended to complement rather than replace the Journal.

'The man' is where you will find a potted biography

'The writings' is the enormous, searchable, complete bibliography of all John Buchan's published works (divided into fiction and non-fiction), and reviews of selected titles by scholars, ordinary readers and specialists. If you want to add a review, please email the editor

'The Society' page gives information about members' activities, the contact emails of people who can help you with information, comments and enquiries.

'The Journal' page launches you into the world of published Buchan scholarship, with the complete index of all articles in the John Buchan Journal to date. We publish sample articles online, and soon you will be able to order articles from out-of-print back issues, as well as the issues themselves.
